Links House – hotel opening anticipated by Luxurious Magazine

“The cabins are hand-built from giant western red cedar logs from British Columbia – chosen for their thermal qualities and durability. However, “cabin” undersells the proposition – the structures are huge, with soaring, pitched ceilings; mezzanine floors; and terraces that look out over spectacular Highland scenery. To sit on the terrace, looking up at the huge eagle head carved out of the exterior while listening to the sounds of rutting stags in the distance, is an enchanting experience.

Inside the cabins, the natural beauty of the wood is enhanced by sensitive lighting…[w]ood burners infuse warmth to the main sitting area and the bedrooms are also pleasingly snug, with low wood-panelled ceilings…and underfloor heating.”

Skibo Castle – Clubhouse article from Golf Club Atlas

“[The client] and his architecture and interior design teams have spared no expense in renovating and restoring Links House. The result is an exquisite, tasteful, intimate, eight-bedroom retreat that overlooks one of Scotland’s finest golf courses. The quality of this view will be matched only by the comfort and welcome at Links House, which will be replete with open fires, wood-panelled  library, garden Orangery dining room, stunning antique and fine art collection as well as impressive wine and single malt cellar.

Links House’s grounds will boast ample gardens, an outdoor gentlemen’s cigar hearth, golf store with drying room and its very own putting green, built and maintained by the green-keepers from Royal Dornoch.”

“Mention needs to be made of the rustic clubhouse, which sits behind the 18th green. Modeled after the original farmhouse, it is the author’s ideal clubhouse in all of golf. The stone fireplaces, library and lounge with their deep leather chairs and sofas provide the perfect environment to which to repair after a day’s golf. The unobstructed views back down the tidal bay will stay with the golfer forever. Mackenzie concurs, saying ‘The setting and style of the Clubhouse was extremely satisfying. There was an old byre (cowshed) there and the dimensions of the original clubhouse followed that exactly. The same wall heights, pitch of roof and height of ridge. It even copied the tin roof. It has since been extended a couple of times, but the spirit of the original remains and I think that it is one of the great cosy clubhouses at one with its setting, not an ego-trip. On some days, it is a wrench to go out to play.'”

Dalcross Castle – Inverness Civic Trust Panel

“The building as it now stands is both a celebration of the past and testament to the possibilities, through creative imagination and supportive patronage, for the transformation of a historic structure to the mores of the present and the future.”

Dalgrambich Steading – Inverness Civic Trust Panel

“The re-working of a single storey steading as a one and a half storey courtyard house has been impressively and consistently carried out while retaining the ambience and scale of the vernacular rural structure, enhanced by architectural innovation.”
